In a 180 degree turnaround in his sporting luck, Worcestershire County Council Chairman Peter Tomlinson hit the bullseye at a charity darts match.

Cllr Tomlinson came out on top in a darts match between civic dignitaries in aid of mayoral charities.

It was a far cry from last week when he crashed his car at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb.

Cllr Tomlinson said: “After my misfortune on the racetrack last week, my success with the darts has cheered me up considerably.

"Thankfully my hands have stopped shaking and I was able to hit the target.

"But the most important thing is that an enjoyable evening has raised funds for the Mayor’s local charities.”

The tournament was organised by the Mayor of Kidderminster, to raise money for Crackerjack Children’s Trust, 1st Kidderminster Boys’ Brigade and Blue Cross Bromsgrove rehoming centre.

It was held at the Cavalier Public House at Offmore, Kidderminster.

As well as the County Council Chairman, also taking part were the Mayors from Kidderminster, Stourport, Worcester and Droitwich and the Vice-Chairman of Wychavon District Council.

Cllr Tomlinson won a trophy and a bottle of fizz.
