JEREMY Hunt has kicked off his campaign in the race for the keys to Number 10 with a Worcester run.

The Foreign Secretary tweeted a picture this morning of him starting his "personal marathon" with a surprise visit to the city.

The Conservative MP stayed over in the city and completed his early morning jog on the city's street, before launching his campaign in the county.

Mr Hunt's trip included a visit to a Tenbury bakery and factory with West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, before heading off to Kidderminster.

Mr Hunt tweeted the picture with the caption: "Early morning run in beautiful Worcester at the start of my personal marathon.

"Sorry to miss great local MP @WalkerWorcester".

Yesterday Mr Hunt got 77 votes in the final ballot of the party's MPs - just two more votes than the next candidate Michael Gove - securing a place in the final two.

Mr Hunt is up against Boris Johnson in the last two, who is the front runner having secured 160 votes. Party members will now decide who leads the party and by default become the next Prime Minister.

City MP Robin Walker told us that he will not be officially backing a candidate, as it was now a choice for party members.

"I backed Sajid Javid, who did really well reaching the final four," Mr Walker said.

"He is relatively young, and has a bright future with the party.

"I feel I had my say, and it is right thing to do to let members decide. Whoever they chose, I will back.

"Both have different qualities, Jeremy has shown he has been a successful Foreign Secretary while Boris is a fantastic campaigner, and has a successful legacy in London.

"I hope both candidate visit Worcester for their campaigns."
