Sir – RE Old Northwick Farm. Those who deride the objectors to this development should know that no one has ever admitted the site to be developed fully flooded in 1947, and has done so once since 1965, in addition it has been partly flooded twice since then.

Does this make sense to build on it? To those who sneer at the objectors answer these questions:

Would you like to live in a home where when the river floods deeply you are sitting in your property which could be completely destroyed?

Would you like to seek household contents insurance knowing if you were successful it would be heavily loaded?

Not all the objectors are as selfishly minded as those that sneer think they are, fact says if needs be you help out as it may be you next.

Those who want to buy may find lenders want the property to be over 400 metres from the river and having found a lender may find their protection insurance heavily loaded.

This site has twice been described as not fit for purpose.
