MALVERN Hills District Council has shown its support by raising a flag to mark the lead-up to Armed Forces Day.

Today (Tuesday), council chairman Dean Clarke raised the flag above the Council House in Avenue Road to recognise the contribution made by all military communities past and present.

This year, Armed Forces Day will be held on Saturday, June 29, and is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the armed forces community, including serving troops, service families, veterans and cadets.

Cllr Clarke said: “By coming together as a community and raising the flag we are showing our support and providing a much-needed morale boost for the troops and their families.

“It is an opportunity to celebrate the men and women who not only have kept us safe over the years but provide the international community with peace keeping forces and facilitate disaster relief efforts.”
