POLICE have issued an image of a man they want to speak after an 80 year old man was found in 'a pool of blood' at his home.

Police say they are treating the man's death as 'unexplained' but believe the man in this image may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Officers were alerted after a member of the public called to say they were worried about the man at his home in Vines Lane at 8.20am.

Emergency services attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem is being carried out.

Residents of Vines Lane, Droitwich, said the man was found in a pool of blood at his home on Monday morning.

Neighbours say the 80-year-old, who has not yet been named, was well known for riding his mobility scooter around the town.

Detective Inspector Mark Walters said: “This is a tragic incident and we are currently carrying out enquiries to understand exactly what has happened. Our investigation is very much in the initial stages and we are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area between Sunday evening and 9am on Monday morning, who may have seen or heard anything that could help us.

“I want to reassure the local community we are continuing to carry out a meticulous investigation and residents are likely to see an increased police presence in the area.”

One local resident said that neighbours knew very little about what had happened to the man, or how the police investigation was progressing.

A West Midlands Ambulance Spokesman said: “When our crew arrived it became quickly apparent nothing could be done to save him.”

Anyone with any information can call police on 101 quoting 94s of June 24.
