CIVIL enforcement officers aim to catch people who dump household waste in public litter bins – but the offence is "not something that happens very often at all in Worcester".

A number of councils in the UK have recently announced that their waste collectors will be turning detective to catch residents who illegally dump household waste in public bins, to crackdown on the increasing problem.

A spokesman for Worcester City Council said that, although the illegal activity is "not something that happens very often at all in Worcester", the authority does take action when necessary.

"If we did find either domestic or trade waste dumped in a litter bin, the information would be passed to our civil enforcement officers (the same people who do parking enforcement) to establish if any action could be taken," the spokesman said.
