B&M has announced the opening date for its long-awaited Halesowen store.

The discount retailer's new shop in the Cornbow Centre will throw open its doors on Wednesday August 21.

B&M Bargains is the third new retailer joining the centre as part of a £1.2m investment - Heron Foods and Costa Coffee have already opened.

Forty jobs are being created with the opening of its massive 10,000 ft2 store.

On the ground floor, at the head of the Cornbow mall, B&M replaces New Look and Roman Originals as well as two vacant units.

A B&M spokesperson said: “We’re feeling really positive about the creation of more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door in August."

The bargain store's opening was delayed after works by the landlord to convert four units into one took longer than anticipated.

It was initially expected to open shortly after Easter.

B&M is one of the UK’s fastest growing retailers and customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including toys, food and drink, pet range, health and beauty and homewares.

The Halesowen B&M, which will open at 9am on August 21, will not stock frozen food.
