Anger as Pershore nursery Bright Beginnings closes suddenly

All staff at Bright Beginnings nursery in Pershore have been made redundant after the nursery closed its doors for good on Tuesday (July 2).

Parents said the closure was announced at lunchtime on the day the nursery shut down, giving just six hours’ notice.

In an email to parents, nursery director Lisa Foster said: “It is with great sadness that I must announce the closure of Bright Beginnings with effect from 6pm on July 2.

"For the last four months we have been negotiating with another nursery group to take over, but last week the deal collapsed. We have put our life and savings into the nursery and at this point have nothing left to give.

"The staff were going to transfer to the new owners, but this is no longer an option open to them. All will take redundancy in line with current legislation. We have engaged the service of Rimes and Co to assist the board with taking steps to place the company into liquidation."

One parent said they'd paid £240 on June 25 for their daughter to attend the nursery in July and have not been refunded and have been told by Rimes and Co, via email, that it is likely they will not get their money back.

This has left them out of pocket as they have had to make alternative childcare arrangements and thus pay for childcare twice for July.

Some staff have been able to find new jobs and some are helping parents who have not yet found new childcare.

The now former staff have also rearranged the pre-schoolers' graduation celebration to take place at a local village hall instead.

They have been meeting parents and children in their spare time to say proper good-byes to them and the children, the Worcester News understands.

The nursery had received a rating of ‘good’ after its recent Ofsted inspection in May.

We were unable to contact anyone at Bright Beginnings' management for a comment.
