A REVERED care home cook has celebrated 40 years’ service with a party thrown by her colleagues.

Sally Harrison started work at Corbett House Nursing Home in Droitwich on January 1, 1979 – one of the first employees to join the team after it opened.

The party – including cake, nibbles and balloons – was held last month, with staff, residents and family all invited.

Ms Harrison was presented with an engraved carriage clock, flowers, £50-worth of Marks & Spencer’s vouchers and a signed card to say thank you for all her hard work.

Nina Nagra, general manager, said of her colleague: “She always attempts to do her job to the best of her ability. She is very reliable and committed.”

Ms Harrison is considered the “bedrock of Corbett House” by management, while one resident said: “Sally welcomes me every morning with a kiss and a hello.”
