FAMILIES and friends flocked to have fun and get messy at Worcester’s Pitchcroft racecourse to raise funds for charity.

Partakers enjoyed the annual Worcester Pretty Muddy run, which was organised by the charity Cancer Research UK as part of its Race for Life fundraising campaign.

On Saturday (July 13) people of all abilities climbed, jogged and walked 5K - all to raise money for a good cause.

The route ran around the racecourse, where participants had to complete an array of mud-filled obstacles.

Many of the people were taking part to remember loved ones who have fought cancer.

Among those taking part was Michelle Walton, from Worcester. She completed the race with her sister Juliette, who had bilateral cancer, and her daughter Shelly.

Ms Walton said: “We have called ourselves the Pretty Mötley Crüe because we are fans. We are wearing our Mötley tops and pink tutus.

“Supporting this charity is very close to our hearts. My sister had bilateral breast cancer and she has had two operations and treatment to remove the cancers.

“It’s a great opportunity to give something back and to raise money for a good cause. We are thankful for our wonderful NHS and all of the dedicated people working within it, we are so happy to celebrate with Juliet that she has survived, and we are all still together.”
