Thousands turned out for the annual Warndon Villages Summer Fete on Ankerage Green.

The fun kicked off at noon on on Sunday July 14 with dance performances from All Sorts of Performing Arts. Throughout the afternoon there was a host of family-friendly activities including pony rides, fairground rides, inflatables, bungee trampolines, face painting, Punch and Judy shows and drumming workshops.

Racing fans of all ages got their thrills in a unique mobile race transporter while younger children could whizz around in the electric go karts.

There was a wide variety of stalls to browse around, refreshments to enjoy and demonstrations to watch from Worcester Tetsudo Club, Happy Steps Dance Academy, Cobras’s Tae Kwon Do and spectators were dazzled by the beautiful costumes of the Indian Classical dancers from the Drisya Bharathi School of Dance. Visitors were able to discover more about local clubs, charities and organisations and discover what goes on here at Lyppard Hub and Warndon Villages.

There were some amazing raffle prizes up for grabs this year with all proceeds going towards helping the community centre’s community projects.

Lyppard Hub manager Lauren Cartwright said “This event is held for the whole community and every year it gets bigger and better. There is something for everyone to take part in and enjoy and the event also gives the groups that use the centre the opportunity to showcase their talents. Lyppard Hub has been at the heart of the Community for 24 years and this event is all about people coming together and celebrating the good work that goes on here.

"We would like to say a huge thank you to Warndon Parish Council, Asda for supporting our BBQ, all the generous businesses who donated raffle prizes and to all the amazing volunteers without whom this event could not happen. We would also like to say a big thank you to Worcester Live & Local for sending the cheeky gnomes.”
