A MUM who was caught drink driving after Westfest Festival and a man who claimed work colleagues were likely responsible for cocaine being in his pocket, were just some of the cases in magistrates court last week.

Caralina Smith was stopped by police because she was continuously "beeping her horn" at 10.30pm on June 29 and then failed a roadside breath test.

Nick Roberts, defending, said she had parked her Ford Fiesta in a designated field in Malvern for Westfest before consuming numerous alcoholic drinks.

His client was apparently told there had been reports of criminal damage to cars and decided to try move hers to a nearby street to "make it safe".

The 49-year-old, of Sayers Avenue, Malvern, was found to have 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millitres of breath, with the court then banning her from driving for 20 months.

Michael Oliver fled the scene after crashing into a parked car in Waterside, Evesham, after a night out, initially denying having been driving before police found the keys in his possession.

Having been taken to Worcester Police Station, officers then found a bag of cocaine in the 35-year-old's back pocket.

He denied knowing how it got there and his solicitor Jo Outhwaite said he believed it may have been given to him by colleagues during the night out.

Oliver, of Westgate-on-Sea, Kent, was banned from driving for 24 months and ordered to pay £225 in costs.

Leslie Gibbs had no recollection of why she got behind the wheel before crashing into a ditch after returning home from a night out in a minibus.

Police were called to the scene at 8pm on June 30.

The 52-year-old, of Russell Street, Great Comberton, then failed to provide a specimen for analysis.

She was banned from driving and given a 12-month community order, which includes 180 hours of unpaid work and 25 Rehabilitation Requirement Days.
