HEREFORD'S St Ethelbert Probus Club has its annual open meeting on August 6 at the Cider Museum when guest speaker Quentin Leiper will talk about Thomas Telford, the famous engineer whose works include the fabulous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Llangollen.
The club, which was founded in 1978, is for retired professional and business men.
Its members meet on Tuesday mornings and enjoy a variety of activities including talks on a diverse range of subjects (this year including Rotherwas House and park, Sir Edward Elgar, harvesting and traction engine restoration and the swinging sixties).
There are also social events to which wives and partners are invited.
The open event is an opportunity for potential members to sample one of the club's meetings.
There is no obligation to join, and if someone is just interested to hear about Thomas Telford they will be welcomed.
Please phone the secretary on 01432 761136, or send an email via the club's web site at
stethelbertprobus.ukif you plan to attend.
