FOOD stalls set up by an eclectic range of businesses from Worcester and beyond have been feeding crowds in the High Street and Cathedral Square.

Despite the rain yesterday, The Worcester Food Festival is in full swing with 'The Great British Bake Off' stars Val Stones Karen Wright and James Hillery have giving baking demonstrations over the weekend.

Mrs Wright who took part in 2018's series of the show said:"I am having fun doing things like this, I have never been to Worcester before. I knew it was a nice place, I remember Rosie and Jim, they were from Worcester."

"I have had about 9 months of this, and my life has changed completely. I have learnt that I'm quite comfortable speaking in public which is something I never thought I would be able to do before the experience on Bake Off."

Mrs Wright continued: "You can come off Bake Off and do nothing, or you can be proactive and find opportunities. I like writing so I have written to a magazine to see if I can do some writing for them. I've got my own radio slot and I'm loving it."

Mrs Stones said: "I'm three years on now, and it carries on. Every year I think, this will be the last thing, it won't last, but I have been in Nashville this last fortnight and I still have a lot of people coming up to me and saying 'hi, are you Val?' I can be in a book shop and people recognise me."

Mrs Wright said: "It's Netflix that does it, and stream tv. Also we have both got distinct Yorkshire voices."

Many local businesses have enjoyed the event. Sam Smith, owner of Wayland's Yard, Foregate Street said: "I think stuff like this is always good for cities like Worcester. It's an opportunity for people like us to reach new audiences."

Janine Davies from the Hive said: "The Bake House in Lowes Moor has made some biscuits in the shape of the Hive and the children are decorating the biscuits for us. We are here with the Hive Cafe and the Hive library and we also have our our keep cups, they are re-usable cups and people can get one free coffee with them. "
