THREE guns have been handed in at Worcester Police Station.

This has been part of a West Mercia Police campaign that gives anyone living in the area with a firearm the opportunity to surrender the weapon at their local police station. The campaign is part of a national initiative to reduce gun crime and runs across the force's policing area until Sunday (August 4).

The figure for Worcester are low compared to Kidderminster where 13 firearms were handed in. In Redditch there were six firearms handed in.

People surrendering weapons will not be required to leave any information, but police may examine the weapons.
