A CELEBRATION garden featuring 1,200 handmade ceramic dragonflies has been installed in Worcester.
On Saturday, St Richard’s Hospice, with the help of volunteers, including a group from garden sponsors Western Power Distribution, installed the beautiful celebration garden display of the sculptures next to St Andrew’s Spire in Deansway.
Passers-by stopped to view the process of the installation and the breath-taking view of the garden, which will be open to see until Bank Holiday Monday, August 26.
When the installation is removed, those who have dedicated a dragonfly to a loved one will be able to take it home as a keepsake or gift. The celebration garden not only offers what has been described as a beautiful and stunning view, but Jayne Sargeant, St Richard’s Hospice fundraiser described how the dragonflies used in the garden.
She said: “It holds a special significance to us here at the hospice, as we run a dragonfly group to support bereaved children offering them a chance to share their experiences with others in a similar situation.
“We hope it will create a meaningful focal point for reflection and the celebration of loved ones.
“There is still time to donate for a dragonfly and take it home to keep once the display is over.”
The dragonflies are individually made by The British Iron Work Centre in Oswestry, uniquely commissioned for the hospice.
