A RESTAURANT which is due to open on Cathedral Square has submitted an application to show films.

The application by Five Guys is for various licensable activities and has gone to public consultation.

Among the activities, the burger restaurant is applying to show films every day from 8am until 11.30 pm and sell alcohol from 11am until 11pm. There is also a proposal to provide late night refreshment Thursday to Saturday from 11pm until midnight.

American fast food chain Five Guys, which has applied to open at Unit A3, 1 Cathedral Square offers customisable made-to-order burgers and hot dogs as well as milkshakes. The restaurant would open in the unit first earmarked for burger rival Byron Burgers.

Byron Burgers was due to open in 2017 alongside Miller and Carter, Yo Sushi, All Bar One, Pizza Express and Ask Italian when the redevelopment was completed but has remained empty since.

The application submitted to Worcester Regulatory services is subject to a 28 day consultation period. During this time, the following statutory bodies are consulted; Police, Fire Safety Department, Development Control (Planning Services), Safeguarding Safety (Child Protection) Community Protection (Noise nuisance), Business Compliance (Heath and Safety) and Primary Care Trust.

The application number is 19/00420/ADV. A responsible authority or any other person can make written representations to the Licensing Authority at any time up to and including August 28.
