SADLY, the NHS is often in the news for negative reasons: budget cutbacks, complaints from patients, hospitals which can't cope with the number of people seeking help.
So it's great to be able to report such a positive story about Worcestershire Royal Hospital, which is just a snapshot of all of the 'miracles' performed there every day by dedicated staff.
The story of John Maiden, who spent 27 days at the Royal following a seizure after a fall at home, is a great example of how the skill and determination of doctors and nurses saves lives every day.
Mr Maiden's granddaughter, Simone, who is a senior healthcare assistant at the hospital, was able to help treat him as he spent time on her ward, and she is clearly someone full of passion for her job and everything the NHS provides. It was great to hear her tell his story and how her colleagues helped him.
Here at the Worcester News, we'd love to hear more positive stories about the NHS in our county, so please do get in touch, whether you're a patient or member of staff, by emailing michael.purton@newsquest.co.uk
