SIDBURY is set to re-open after it was closed in a series of overnight closures to allow surface work to be done.

Nightly closures have been in operation since August 28 and the road has been closed from 8pm to 6am for work on the road surface.

The road was re-opened yesterday morning and closed again last night into this morning.

The work has been taking place in Sidbury, City Walls Road and Commandery Road with local diversions in place during the works.

The road will continue to be closed nightly, tonight and tomorrow night, before fully re-opening on Wednesday.

There will be several weeks of work on pavements along with general tidying-up after the re-opening.

However, none of that work should involve any further lane closures.

The work in Sidbury includes replacing the traffic light system, extending approach lanes and installing a new signal-controlled pedestrian crossing.
