AN inquest into the death of Alessandro Frumenzi, the tragic teenager who died after drowning in the River Severn, will not be held until next year.

Mr Frumenzi, from Leverkusen but living in Worcester, was spotted going into the river off Sabrina Bridge in the early hours of June 29.

That sparked a major search operation for the 18-year-old, including a police helicopter and fire crews using inflatable boats.

That search tragically came to end when the body of the Heart of Worcestershire College student was found in the River Severn near Kempsey.

A date had been scheduled for the inquest to take place yesterday at Worcestershire Coroner’s Court in Stourport.

However, instead, now it will be held on April 21, 2020.

Floral tributes for Mr Frumenzi were left underneath Sabrina Bridge after his death and a statement from Mr Frumenzi’s family was released.

It said: “The family and friends are heartbroken and traumatised to lose someone this close to our hearts but with love and support, he will always be remembered and looking over us and in our thoughts.”
