BUILDING work has begun on new industrial units at a substantial development in Worcester.

St Modwen announced that it has begun work on three industrial and logistics units at its Nunnery Park site in the city.

The work forms the final phase of building work at the site, which is being expanded by St Modwen after it received planning permission from Worcester City Council in April this year.

The wider expansion of the 20-acre park is expected to create more than 130 new jobs.

James Irwin-Singer, development manager at St. Modwen, said: “The popularity of Nunnery Park is down to sustained market demand for strategically located warehousing and industrial space in Worcestershire.

"Developing three further units at a site St. Modwen has continually invested in will allow us to meet the needs of potential occupiers and expand what is already a quality offering."

Richard Tomlinson, partner at Fisher German added: “Both Nunnery Park’s excellent variety of amenities and close proximity to the M5 corridor make St. Modwen’s newest units the perfect solution for industrial firms looking to relocate to the area.

"We anticipate strong interest from leading medium-sized businesses and look forward to welcoming prospective tenants to the site.”

Nunnery Park is already home to big name businesses including UK Storage Company, Auto Support and Supra UK, as well as businesses such as KFC, a Greene King pub, a petrol station and a convenience store.

Units of 48,000 sq ft, 19,010 sq ft and 27,525 sq ft will expand the development, with the largest warehouse boasting five dock level doors, a 10-metre haunch height and close to 40 car parking spaces.

With work now underway on the scheme, the new industrial units are expected to be ready for occupation in Spring 2020 and will complement the site’s existing warehousing, trade counter and leisure offerings.

Located between junctions 6 and 7 of the M5, the three new units will provide warehousing and distribution space in a prime location.
