Husband and wife team Nick and Chrissy Hunt opened Saffrons Bistro in New Street in 1995.

Laid-back, cosy and rustic; Saffrons has been thriving for more than 24 years as a friendly neighbourhood bistro serving unpretentious food in a great atmosphere.

Nick’s father Donald Hunt first moved to Worcester in 1975 as the Cathedral’s organist, and Nick began his venture into the foodie world when he opened Heroes Restaurant and Bar in 1981, running the establishment for 11 years.

Saffrons was born from the couple’s love of local, high-quality food.

Nick said: “We wanted to give Worcester a unique dining experience.

“No pretention, no fuss, just good honest high-quality food delivered in a friendly informal environment.

“We have a team of passionate chefs and a front of house team that do their utmost to give warm, friendly, knowledgeable service.

“We also pride ourselves on catering for nearly all tastebuds and diets, with vegetarian and vegan options available.

“We offer real home-cooked food with great flavours, perfectly executed classic dishes, and a menu that caters for the more traditional and more adventurous diner.

“We are gin lovers, and now have a selection of over 50 at the bar.

“Our current favourite is Brockman’s, which we stock alongside local, small-batch gins as well as more well-known bottles.

“Our monthly gin tastings allow you to try new gins and tonics in a fun, informal environment for just £25. If you love gin, you’ll love it at Saffrons.”

And indeed, the gin bar is perfect for a pre-or-post-dinner drink or even a standalone G&T.

Fast approaching its 25th year, Saffrons has remained a popular spot for locals and visitors alike and has landed itself in the UK Good Food Guide 2018 & 2019.
