In September of this year, Worcester’s first and only dedicated Belgian beer café: ‘TripelB’ opened its doors/

The aim of the Copenhagen Street bar was to bring the beers of Belgium, and a piece of its culture, to Worcester.

TripelB was founded by Craig Finn, Andy Perks and Ryan Smith and Mr Finn said: "We strongly believed that Worcester’s thriving craft beer and restaurant scene had a gap, and that this gap could be filled by a dedicated Belgian beer café, complementing other craft beer bars in the city and enhancing the range of drinks available to the public of Worcester, by stocking over 100 different Belgian beers.

"We also serve a range of natural wines, prosecco, high quality spirits and Belgian inspired cuisine, specializing in charcuterie and Belgian waffles.

"In addition, we have soft drinks, coffee, teas, snacks including cheese, celery salt, salami and nuts; and we play the best music at a volume that is not intrusive."

Having opened in September, hundreds of people have already come through the door keen to soak up the atmosphere and explore the varied menu of hot and cold food as well as established, well known, classic beers and specialist, rarer and lesser known beers, broadening their tastes and widening their knowledge of the fascinating world of Belgian beer.

Mr Finn added: "Starting our own business has definitely been an eye-opening experience for all of us.

"Across the board, we have a wide network of industry contacts both in the UK and Belgium which has made things run fairly smoothly, and between the three of us we have many years of Belgian beer related experience.

"We have passion for this topic and truly believe it to be an art form."

In December of 2018, Mr Finn was made redundant after 32 years in the utilities industry.

This ended up being the push needed to invest in this venture.

He said: "It was our wish to bring the beers of Belgium to Worcester and also to recruit staff locally, training them in all aspects of the cultural side of the Belgian beer industry."
