Trainee beauty therapists welcomed ladies from around the town to the spa at Malvern Hills College for a day of relaxation and pampering.

Their efforts raised more than £700 for Cancer Research UK.

Treatments administered throughout the day included electrical facials, scalp massage, body wraps and full Swedish body massages – with a lunch also provided by the students.

Businesses and attractions from across Malvern and the wider region also donated prizes to support the successful raffle, which took place at lunchtime in the spa.

Donations included a spa day at Malvern Spa Hotel, vouchers from Malvern Serenity, a family ticket to West Midlands Safari Park, family ticket at Ice Quest Malvern, a meal for two at the Plough & Harrow and a meal for two at Mount Pleasant Hotel.

Malvern Hills College is part of college group WCG, which has two other colleges in the region at Evesham and Pershore.

Spa day at Malvern was one of two hosted by WCG, with the other being organised by students at Evesham College.

Tracey Hobson, Beauty Therapy lecturer at WCG, said: “It was a wonderful day down at Malvern Hills College and the ladies who joined us went away relaxed and with smiles on their faces.”

“We would like to thank all the businesses who supported the raffle with donations, helping us towards our great fundraising total.”

“I was very proud and impressed with our students on the day and it is great experience for them, giving a real insight into what working in a spa will be like once they have achieved their qualifications.”

The salon at Malvern Hills College is open to the public and provides high-quality treatments at a reduced rate.
