After the draining ordeal of Christmas, why not experience Merry Hell at Worcester's Huntingdon Hall?

After all, the event is likely to be most enjoyable...

Unlike Christmas, some might say. But what's on offer?

A spokesman said: "Multi-award winning Merry Hell offer joyful, uplifting folk-rock, with a message for troubled times.

"Native to the North-West of England, the eight-piece musical charabanc was built from the embers of the much loved folk-punk band The Tansads, developing a life and feel all of its own."

The spokesman added: "Their energy and passion is complimented by their love of what they do and desire to share hope and togetherness with as many people as are willing to listen.

"Through five well-received albums and hundreds of gigs, they’ve offered voices of hope and beacons of light to anyone valuing both melody and positive humanity."

So now we know.

A band member added: " Merry Hell is a band founded on the ever evolving folk tradition – music made by the people and shared by the people.

"Though our hearts and souls are tuned to the songs which came before us, we bring you new words and music forged from our own experiences, from the lows and the loves of our lives.

"Our art is energy and our hope is unity. Our pleasure is to please: let the audience be the acid test and let the music speak for itself."

The band believe that "if life is a journey, ours has been more of a mystery tour wrapped up in an adventure that we really want to share. Wherever we go, we feel love and togetherness between band members and the people we meet.

" It’s a real privilege to be part of that, so we want to give our audience a deeper sense of who we are, where we come from, where we’ve been and where we’re going."

And one place they'll be going is the Huntingdon Hall, in the New Year.

The date for the diary is Friday January 24.
