BUSINESSES have come together to make sure disadvantaged children have a present to open on Christmas morning.

Free radio charity, Cash for Kids have teamed up with B&M for 'Mission Christmas' where they collect presents and give them out to children.

John Stratton, charity manager, said: “1 in 3 children are living in poverty, and for these families Christmas is a luxury they can’t afford. We would like to say thank you to everyone that has donated to help Santa reach more children.”

“No-one wants to think of any child waking up on Christmas morning without any presents to open, so being able to be a part of the team that makes Mission Christmas happen is amazing.

"To think that between our really small team of three, we are able to make Christmas special for thousands of local children is incredible.”

“Hopefully we’re putting smiles on the faces of these children who’ve had a really tough year, and whilst receiving a gift can seem such a small thing, we know from the feedback we receive that it really does mean a lot to the children and their families. It shows that someone is thinking about them and someone cares.”

A B&M spokeswoman, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnered with Mission Christmas again this year.”

“We’ve been overwhelmed with donations from our customers so far and we know they’ll make a huge difference to local people over the festive period.”

“There’s still time to drop off a gift in any of our stores and we’ll make sure they get to disadvantaged children in the local area.”

Other business involved include, Foleys, Sainsburys, Wickes, Hickorys and Bensons for beds.

Gifts can be donated up to Tuesday, December 17 or you can donate online at freeradio.co.uk/mission and the Cash for Kids Team will buy a gift on your behalf.
