A CITY swimming pool has reopened after the completion of refurbishments.

The Worcester Citizens Swimming Bath Association, which runs Lower Wick Swimming Pool, received a loan of £97,806 to replace the ageing lining of its pool and refurbish tired changing rooms.

The pool was closed in November and after the refurbishment work was completed, the Weir Lane pool reopened earlier today.

The much-needed repairs have been discussed for a number of years culminating in the move to replace the 15-year-old lining and refurbish old floors.

The pool’s staff on social media wrote: “After nine long weeks of blood, sweat and tears we are happy to say that pool renovations have gone brilliantly and we are thrilled with the new look pool.

“Swimming lessons will commence as normal from January 2.

"Come along and see for yourself.

"Happy new year from all the staff.”

A video was also shared of how the work progressed, and how it looks after completion.

Lower Wick Swimming Pool was self-funded until 2012 but around £50,000 of council money has been required to pay for a number of refurbishments over the years, including £10,000 for roof repairs in 2012.
