HOSPICE are looking for donations of almost £9000 to help cover the extra day of service needed this year.

St. Richards Hospice has set up a donation page online and has so far collected £290.

Margi Parkes, In-patient Unit Sister at St Richard’s, said: “We care passionately about what we do. It’s so special to the staff here that we have that time to look after our patients and give them everything they need.

“And families are so important, we can give them our time, we can sit with them we can listen to them, we can hug them, we can give them a shoulder to cry on.

“It’s you, the people of Worcestershire, that allow us to do what we do. We want you to keep giving to us and supporting us with your generosity, because we can and do make a huge difference to people’s lives.”

The story posted on the donations page reads:

"We are proud to care for patients and their loved ones – 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

"2020 brings with it an extra 24 hours – meaning we need to pay for our services, both at the hospice and in the community, for another day.

"So, we’re asking you for support: can you help us to fund our care on Saturday February 29?

"£8,904 will pay for every aspect of the In-patient Unit – including physical, emotional and spiritual support – along with the nurse specialists and healthcare assistants scheduled to care for patients in their own homes that day.

"Together we can provide the very best care and support free of charge to patients and families when they need us most.

"Please give generously and support our campaign. Thank you."
