This week children from all across the county have returned to school after the Christmas break.

Worcestershire group for children, Parent's Voice have highlighted that going back to school can be anxiety inducing for both children and parents. Here are some tips from Young Minds to help ease the transition:

1. Chat about school. Keep it light and positive.

2. Ask how they’re feeling about it and whatever they tell you, accept, validate and normalise their feelings.

3. Plan a few interesting things to do in the evenings and at weekends, to give them something to look forward to.

4. Establish a routine ‘family feedback’ time which makes it normal for everyone to air and share worries from their day, as well as the fun things that went on.

5. Teach them some simple breathing techniques or a grounding exercise to use at school if they feel anxious during the day.
