A TASTER gym session is set to take place aimed at youngsters with disabilities.

Freedom Leisure, which operates Perdiswell Leisure Centre, St Johns Sports Centre, Nunnery Wood Sports Complex and provides the Active Communities service on behalf of Worcester City Council, has managed to secure Satellite Club funding from Sport England via the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire, to offer adapted sports sessions inclusive for all at Perdiswell Leisure Centre.

The funding will enable the gym to purchase specialist equipment and subsidise coaching costs to provide inclusive sports opportunities for young people.

This programme is open to individuals between the ages of 11-18 who wish to try a variety of sports and develop different skills whilst having fun.

The taster session takes place at Perdiswell Leisure Centre on Tuesday, January 21 from 6 to 7pm.

Matt Rogers, active communities manager said: “The Active Communities team in Worcester is delighted to have secured this funding to enable us to give youngsters in and around Worcester the opportunity to come and have a go at a range of different sports which have been adapted to suit a variety of needs.

“It is especially pleasing that we have the opportunity to offer this session for free and we look forward to welcoming a great turn out.”
