READERS have jumped to the defence of a dog breed after a report of ‘stray staffies’ attacking other dogs.

Dianne Humphries, 62, was walking her two Schnauzer dogs Bertie and Lily near to her Tolladine home when she says they were attacked. She said Lily's leg was broken by the two 'stray staffies' and warned people to be on their guard.

But dog owners rushed to defend the breed, sharing pictures of their pets with us.

Kelly Saunders said: Staffordshire bull terriers really do get such negative media attention. This is part of the reason rescue kennels are full of bull breeds who have never done anything wrong except be judged."

Kelly shared a picture of her son with the dogs to highlight how gentle and loving they can be.

Keleigh Mullet said: “Staffies are the most loyal, most loving dog you will come across.. only vicious if they’ve been handled wrong.”

Tina Evans said she has been bought up with the bull breed since she was seven and was carrying that on with her children.
