THERE are 13 categories on offer in this year's Worcestershire Education Awards. But what are they?

These are: Early Years Education Award, Community Involvement Award, Primary / Middle School of the Year, Head Teacher / Principal of the Year, Secondary School of the Year, Teacher / Lecturer of the Year, College, or Post-18 Education & Training Provider, Newcomer of the Year, Special Education Needs (SENCO) Award, Support Staff of the Year, Independent School of the Year and Unsung Hero.

There is also a new category available in this year's awards, the Inspirational Mentor of the Year, which goes to the mentor who has committed themselves to nurture and support an adult learner to overcome personal barriers and move into training or education in order to fulfil their previously unachievable goals.

They will be able to clearly demonstrate the impact they have had on the learner, how they have gone above and beyond and how without the support from them their goals would not have been achievable.

Anyone can nominate their favourite school, teacher or education provider for an award, whether they are a pupil, parent or member of staff. Just put down exactly why you feel they deserve the award and what they do to make a difference.

Over the coming weeks we will be profiling the nominees and building up the list for the judges to decide on the finalists. To nominate, go to www.worcesternews.co.uk/awards/worcestershire_education_awards/

Once there, you can choose from as many categories as you like and nominate your favourite.

Every year the awards recognise those who have made an outstanding impact on the education of children and young people across Worcestershire.

We have hundreds of nominations every year and the finalists will be welcomed to the Worcester Arena on June 25 where the winners will be crowned.
