A former Worcester schoolboy has celebrated being promoted to partner of a London law firm at the age of just 31.

Andrew Ford, a former RGS Worcester student, has been promoted to Partner at Holborn Adams Solicitors.

Mr Ford continues to live in Worcester and says he commutes daily because he loves the city and wouldn’t want to bring up his two-year-old son Max anywhere else.

The proud dad said: “I love Worcester, this is where I grew up, it is my home, my family are here and I would love for my son to follow in my footsteps.

“We have just been to an open day for RGS Springfield and very much want to give him the upbringing that I had.”

Andrew went to Pitmaston Primary School in the city and lived with his parents Anette and Trevor Ford in Lower Wick.

The family then moved to Kempsey, where they still live, and Andrew went to RGS Worcester, followed by Cardiff University to study law.

“I never wanted to live in London and although I am fortunate to have my career, I am so glad I have managed to keep close links to Worcester as well.”

Mr Ford continues to play cricket for Barnards Green Cricket Club, where he was previously first team captain. He also represented Upton Rugby Club before, he says, injury and parenthood imposed retirement upon him.

Splitting his time between the firm’s London and Stratford-upon-Avon office, Andrew specialises in representing high profile and high net worth individuals facing criminal allegations. Mr Ford also represents professional sportspeople as an agent/manager - his sports clients include current professional cricketers at Worcestershire and rugby players at Gloucester.

Andrew’s legal career started at Hamer Childs Solicitors in Worcester. He has always had an interest in criminal law but moved his career away from the city in order to move into privately funded criminal defence.

He said: “I was very interested in and indeed passionate about criminal law, but as a keen sportsman I found I fell into the role of advocating for boxing champions and world famous cricketers. I absolutely love it. I am buzzing to have been promoted to partner and can't wait to see what the future holds for me and my family.”
