Amid the Covid-19 outbreak, Disney announced that their Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida would be closing as a precautionary measure.

Releasing an official statement about the closure of the parks following the coronavirus outbreak, Disney said they had taken the decision to close the parks was out of ‘an abundance of caution’

The parks will be closed from March 15th until the end of the month.

The company made the announcement in an official statement which read: statement read: "In an abundance of caution and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of our theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Paris Resort, beginning at the close of business on Sunday, March 15, through the end of the month.

The Herald:

"If you hold a reservation at a Disney Hotel for arrivals until June 1, 2020, we have waived all modification and cancellation fees until April 15.

"We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts."

Although the parks at Disneyland Paris and Disney World will be closed, the hotels at each the sites are remaining open at ‘until further notice’, as are the retail and dining complexes attached to them.  

The US park has only closed a few times since its opening in 1955. The park has closed for the national day of mourning following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the terror attacks of September 11.
