An online poll of more than 24,000 people has found that 69% believe the Scottish Premiership should be 'null and void' if games cannot resume amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Fans were quick to react to comments made by Neil Lennon after he said in the worst-case scenario that saw Scottish football unable to restart, Celtic should be crowned champions.

However, when posed with the question, "Should Celtic be crowned Champions if the league is suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak?" 69% voted that the league should be void and no one should be crowned Champions.

Used as a way of gauging the reaction to the Celtic manager's comments, the online straw poll is highly unscientific and was shared across a number of Celtic and Rangers Facebook pages and groups.

The Herald:

The Hoops are 13 points clear with 8 games left in the season and would need to lose 4 out of 8 games, with Rangers picking up maximum points to lose out on a 9th league trophy in a row.

On Tuesday, the UEFA Executive Committee will decide whether the SPFL campaign will have any hope of being played to a conclusion in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday, Neil Lennon said: “We would be the champions and rightly so.

“We are 13 points clear. Dundee United, they would have to be promoted as well.

“Certainly, if you are talking about the Armageddon of the league being cancelled or stopped, it should go on the average points total which would make us clear champions and rightly so.

“We are over 30 games into the season, they are not going to take that away from us.

“Are they going to do that to Liverpool? I would doubt it very much.

“I get your point about Hearts but you have to look at average point per game and take it from there.
