A run of international poetry success continues for the Worcester New's entertainments reporter, Gary Bills-Geddes.

Recently he was one of nine equal runners up, behind the winner, for the American-based Robert Frost Poetry Contest, and one of his poems was selected for Poetry on the Lake's World Poetry Day site, in Italy, on the theme of joy in solitude.

Now Gary has heard he's taken the prize winning "highly commended slot" in the Charles Causley International Poetry Competition, and, somewhat unusually, another of his poems also made the shortlist.

An organiser told him: "I am delighted to inform you that your poem ‘Thirteenth Note’ was Highly Commended in the 2019 Charles Causley International Poetry Competition.

"You will also be interested to learn that your poem entitled ‘Country Wedding’ was shortlisted but did not win a prize. In an extremely competitive field of 640 entries, it is quite an achievement to have two poems reach the final shortlist, so many congratulations on your success."
