A PATIENT at Poole Hospital who had been diagnosed with coronavirus died on Saturday, NHS England has confirmed.

Providing an update on the number of people across the country to have tested positive for COVID-19 and died, the health authorities said one person at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust died on March 28.

NHS England said a further 190 patients with coronavirus had died since the previous figures were released on Saturday.

The current number of deaths in the United Kingdom for people who have tested positive for the virus stands at 1,228.

As reported, three people, who all had coronavirus, died across the BCP Council area on Wednesday and Thursday.

A statement released by Dorset hospital health chiefs said one person died on Wednesday, March 25, while under the care of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals, while a further two people died at Poole General Hospital the following day.

No more details were released about those who had died.

A spokesperson for Poole Hospital and The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals said: “Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients’ families and loved ones.

"Out of respect for their privacy we will not be commenting further.”
