LATEST NHS figures show there have been another four deaths at Worcestershire hospitals from Covid-19, bringing the total number of county deaths announced up to 56.

The four deaths being reported have come at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust hospitals, bringing the total at the trust's hospitals to 52.

There were no new deaths at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS trust units, having had four deaths in total.

The figures released by Public Health England shows the deaths for the 24 hours up to 5pm on April 8. A further 765 people who tested positive for coronavirus died in England, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 7,248.

Of the 765, 124 were in the Midland, PHE reports.

The Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust covers the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital as well as the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital.

The health and care NHS trust covers community hospitals and rehabilitation wards, including Worcester City Impatient Unit, Malvern Community Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital, Pershore Community Hospital, the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, Tenbury Community Hospital and the Wye Forest Ward.
