POLICE have reminded the public to be mindful on what can and cannot be done during the coronavirus lockdown.

Officers have said they have received numerous Covid-19 related queries on 101 which are inappropriate and have urged the public not to call 101 with general enquires.

West Mercia Police Tweeted: “We have received a number of COVID-19 related queries on 101. Whilst there might be confusion surrounding the new guidelines, examples like this are not police matters.

“It is great to see our communities are being mindful of what they can and can’t do during the COVID-19 outbreak. However, please do not call 101 with general queries.

“If you are in danger and you need to call 999 without being heard, remember to press 55 if prompted. You can also silently report concerns to us online using the link below, but always dial 999 in an emergency.”

Police have also thanked NHS staff who are on the frontline for going “above and beyond” during the Bank Holiday weekend.

Another Tweet by police said: “We want to express our thanks to everyone in the NHS who are going above and beyond this bank holiday to deliver their services to those that need them #ThankYou #StayHomeSaveLives.”

As the weather gets warmer and the days are longer, police have urged people to stick to the rules and only see members of their household.

West Mercia Police Tweeted: “Going out for a walk in the sunshine? Planning a BBQ in the garden this weekend?

“Enjoy the warm weather as much as possible with your daily exercise or out in your garden, but make sure this is only with members of your household #StayHomeSaveLives #EasterWeekend.”

Police have also reminded the public to follow the government’s guidance of coronavirus.

According to the GOV.UK website it urges residents to stay at home during the pandemic.

If anyone decides to go out, they should stay two metres (6 ft) away from other people at all times and will need to wash their hands as soon as they get home. Residents should not meet others, even friends or family who lives outside the household.
