A DEER has been spotted in Worcester.

It appears that while the country is in lockdown due to Covid-19 the mammal has found its way to the city.

The deer was spotted on Monday (April 20) morning at around 6.20am on the grounds of Northwick Manor Primary School in Northwick Road.

Sian Williams, headteacher said: "We were all absolutely amazed to see footage of a Roe deer roaming our school grounds this week and are really thankful that a local resident forwarded the video footage to us. It has really lifted the spirits of everyone-and the children have loved the idea of an animal they wouldn’t normally see in such a built up residential area making use of our lovely school grounds even if they can’t at the moment.

"I think it serves as another lesson to us all that when human activity decreases a little, we see more of the natural world around us thriving and during such unusual and uncertain times, it is fabulous that the children have seen something a little unusual on their doorstep that has brought a smile to their faces."

Timothy Hodgkiss posted on the school’s Facebook page: “Someone needs to let Northwick Manor Primary School know that someone was trying to get into their grounds this morning. Also, early morning dog walkers and drivers may want to be aware that this is a thing that you could run into (literally, potentially).”

Have you seen anything unusual in nature recently? We'd love to see your photos.
