HEREFORD Times editor John Wilson has been telling radio listeners about the benefits of digital subscriptions to the newspaper’s website.
He was invited on BBC Hereford and Worcester’s Andrew Easton programme to talk about the challenges the coronavirus crisis is posing for local newspapers.
John said the epidemic had hit the Hereford Times hard because of declining advertising revenue.
People were also, understandably, more reluctant to leave the house to go and pick up their local newspaper.
But for the Hereford Times to continue to provide the best quality trusted local news and information it still needs the funds to support its important journalism.
A digital subscription to www.herefordtimes.com costs less than £1 a week.
Those who do not wish to support local news through a digital subscription will still be able to enjoy much of what is on the website for free.
John also said readers who preferred to read the printed paper, but who were struggling to get to the shops because of the current restrictions, could now arrange free delivery simply by calling 0800 953 0227.
