A TEAM from the council has paid a visit to a Worcester site after receiving reports of a rough sleeper living under a tree.

This photo shows a sign which has been placed next to Warndon Clinic in Chedworth Drive.

The sign, which has been there since the weekend, suggests a pensioner has been made homeless and is now living under the tree next to the clinic.

A spokesman from Worcester City Council said: “The outreach team for rough sleepers have visited this site on several occasions but no one has been present at the times of their visits.

“They left their contact details at the site and have spoken to the local church and doctor’s surgery, neither of whom had spotted anyone sleeping rough at this location.

“The team will continue to visit the site and will offer assistance if any is needed.”

St Paul’s Hostel in Tallow Hill, Worcester, is currently full, but there are other options available once the person is identified.

Jonathon Sutton, chief executive of St Paul's Hostel, said: “The circumstances around this person are unclear and that is why when a member of the public thinks someone is sleeping rough they use Street Link to notify the authorities.”
