AN INQUEST has been opened after a man was found dead at home the day after being discharged from hospital.

Glyn Pattison, 64, died at his home in Belmont View, Harwood, on Thursday, May 21.

The head of grips, a qualified technician for camera equipment, worked with ITV on the Granada News programme.

An inquest at Bolton Coroner’s Court on Thursday afternoon heard that the grandfather had been to visit his mother-in-law the day before his tragic death, shortly after he was discharged from hospital. It was not reported during the hearing which hospital he was discharged from.

Mr Pattison, who had turned 64 just ten days before his death, had been “increasingly low in mood,” the hearing in front of assistant coroner for Manchester West Catherine Cundy heard.

Police coroner’s officer Stefan Wilson said: “Mr Pattison was found unresponsive in the bath tub, and paramedics pronounced life extinct at 18.19 hours on May 21.”

A post mortem examination carried out at Royal Bolton Hospital showed that Mr Pattison had died after suffering multiple stab wounds.

No suspicious circumstances or third party involvement has been discovered by officers investigating the death, and the coroner has released Mr Pattison’s body to his family.

A review of the case will be held on July 10 to determine whether a full inquest can be held.
