THE President of the Rotary Club of Worcester has walked 96 miles to raise money for charities.

In May, Richard Rogers, from the club took on the challenge and raised £6,500 to enable the Rotary Club of Worcester to provide financial support 10 charities and groups that have been impacted by Covid-19.

Mr Rogers said: “For over 96 years the Rotary Club of Worcester has supported the local community, so walking 96 miles was one way of marking that and raising money.

"Our fund raising has been significantly impacted by Covid-19 and we know that many other local groups will have also had problems. It is our hope that by making these grants we will continue to support our local community.”

The club will be distributing the money in two ways.

Some of the money will be donated to groups identified by the club. However, the club knows that there may groups needing help that they are not aware of.

Therefore the fund has been earmarked to make a limited number of grants (up to £500 each) to small charities and groups serving the local community.

Local groups are invited to apply by email.

The application process is simple and decisions will be made quickly.
