A HOSPITAL radio station in Worcester has adapted so it could broadcast during the coronavirus outbreak.

Presenters on Choice Radio for Worcestershire Royal Hospital currently broadcasting live shows from home, having usually been based at the hospital.

Richard Green, who has a show on Friday and Sunday evenings between 8pm and 11pm, explained there was a short break from broadcasting at the height of the pandemic, but they returned with a few presenters and were slowly getting everyone back.

"We had to adapt," Mr Green said.

"The only thing we are finding difficult is for people to get in touch with us (for requests), because it is via Facebook. "We are trying to get requests through out Choice Radio Facebook messenger, or our individual pages.

"Obviously if you are in the studio, you could take phone calls, but we can't do that at the moment so we are finding different ways to get requests."

Mr Green said it was very much a local radio station for Worcestershire, with presenters coming from and broadcasting from their homes across the county including Worcester, Drakes Broughton and Evesham.

"Everybody enjoys listening, we get good feedback from the community in Worcestershire as well," he said

"When this (pandemic) ends, we will be looking for more members, ward visitors, presenters, technical assistants, admin roles and fundraising.

"We all volunteer our time."
