HEAVY rainfall is expected to lash Worcestershire today with the Met Office issuing a weather warning.

Persistent rain is forecast for most of Thursday (June 18) until at least the early evening.

Some roads have already been affected by the rainfall, with Shell Ford near Droitwich being closed for safety reasons.

Worcestershire County Council's highways department is advising drivers to use the diversion via Himbleton.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms for today.

According to the warnings, heavy rain may lead to some localised disruption while the thunderstorms may also cause disruption.
