MORE than 500 Worcestershire residents - with Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate - had died in all settings up to June 12, new Office of National Statistics confirms.

The figures cover people who died from Covid-19 and the local authority area in which they lived, and provide information on deaths outside of county hospitals.

The latest data, covering the week June 5 and June 12, shows:

Four people died in hospital; two from Wychavon, one Wyre Forest resident and one from Worcester.

Two people died in a care home; one from Worcester and one from Bromsgrove.

Two people died at home; one from Worcester and one from Wyre Forest.

During that week there were no Covid-19 related deaths in a hospice, in a communal establishment or elsewhere.

Some of the deaths are ones previously not reported on as the daily regional figure from the NHS is only people dying of Covid-19 at county hospitals.

The total across all settings that week, eight, is half the week prior to that.

It is also the lowest number of deaths in a week for months and shows the general downward trend - for example, seven weeks earlier, 98 county people died in all settings in one week, (between April 17 and April 24).

The latest ONS figures reveal 506 Worcestershire people, classed as having Covid-19, had died up to June 12.

They include:

129 Bromsgrove residents; 72 in hospital, 52 in a care home, four elsewhere, and one in a communal establishment.

113 Wyre Forest residents; 63 in hospital, 39 in a care home, nine at home and two in a communal establishment.

103 Wychavon residents; 46 in hospital, 46 in a care home, four at home, four in a communal establishment, two in a hospice and one elsewhere.

61 people from Worcester; 27 in hospital, 27 in a care home, four at home, two in a communal establishment and one in a hospice.

55 people from Redditch; 45 in hospital, eight in a care home, one at home and one in a communal establishment.

45 Malvern Hills residents; 23 in a hospital, 19 in a care home, two at home and one in a communal establishment.
