PORTABLE toilet cubicles have been reopened in Worcester.

Worcester City Council has opened six portable toilets which are available in Cornmarket, Angel Place and Croft Road

The unisex disabled toilet pod in Angel Place is also open too.

A city council spokesman said: “As a short-term measure we have brought in individual portable toilet cubicles, all with disabled access and suitable hand sanitiser dispensers.

“The unisex disabled toilet pod in Angel Place is also available.

“The permanent toilets at Angel Place should be fully open next week.”

A Worcester News reader, Dave Stevenson, commented on the lack of toilets in Crowngate Shopping Centre.

Mr Stevenson said: “The toilets should have been opened at the start.

“Very shoddy planning. Evesham, Malvern and Droitwich - they’ve all managed it but not Worcester.

“You’ve known about this opening for some weeks and have done nothing.”

However, Mike Lloyd, centre manager at Crowngate Shopping Centre, responded to the post about the toilets still being shut.

He said: “Firstly, just to say that we understand your frustrations with regards to the toilets not being open.

“We are working to open all the toilets with all the social distancing measures, swapping the hand driers for paper towels (this is to prevent any airborne spread) as well as hand sanitiser. As soon as these are complete, we will get them open, we were aiming for the 22nd but suppliers let us down on the stock but we hope this will be rectified in the next few days.”

The disabled toilet in the Crowngate is open.

A reader Liza Nicol, said the disabled door’s lock in the shopping centre doesn’t work.

But Mr Lloyd replied to Ms Nicol and said the maintenance team will be checking the lock.
