THIS is the area been excavated in Deansway, Worcester, after the road collapsed recently.

We reported at the weekend that two-way temporary traffic lights are in operation in the road, while highway and Severn Trent Water workers have been working at the carriageway site.

Worcs Highways & Travel have tweeted the image and said: "Excavated area in Deansway #Worcester for work on the problems with the sewer that led to the road sinking.

On Saturday the Worcester News ran a story after West Mercia Police officers arrived at the scene and were directing traffic, after the section of the carriageway had sunken "dangerously."

Worcs Highways & Travel Tweeted at the time: "A section of carriageway has sunken dangerously on Deansway Worcester near to Worcester Cathedral (heading away from river).

"West Mercia Police are currently directing traffic."
