SIR - It must be a huge relief for our pubs and restaurants to be able to reopen after three months of enforced closure.

I don’t begrudge people enjoying themselves - although some of the pictures I’ve seen from Saturday night show that social distancing does seems to be forgotten when a few drinks have been had.

However, what about the actors, dance clubs and live music venues who have been left in limbo with no idea when they may resume their normal undertakings?

Apparently someone on stage is a danger to the audience if they are singing or talking loudly but I can’t see how it can be that much more dangerous than some of the pictures I’ve seen from places like Borough Market, in London, where there were crowds of people all drinking and enjoying themselves in fairly tight spaces.

I’ve got friends in the entertainment industry who are really struggling and I know they have watched the scenes this weekend with bitter disappointment. Isn’t it time to give them some help too?
